Have you sat down to reflect on your year? What did you learn? What did you accomplish? Were your goals met? If not, that’s okay. This year has been a rollercoaster, so it might not have gone the way you planned. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Whether your business took a hit, you got laid off from your job, you had to learn how to homeschool your children, or you’re lonely because you haven’t seen family… Everything is going to be okay. I bet one thing you can say you did accomplished is the ability to adapt. This year has been filled with so many lessons, below we’re going to give you some pointers on what to do with what comes next, whether it’s good or bad.
Adjust your goals for next year
Of course goals should be made regardless of the circumstances, though, the approach may change depending on what is going on. Take your newfound ability to adapt and have a plan for next year. Set your goals around things remaining as they are with restrictions and quarantine rules and what would change if the world opens back up to “normal”.
Spend time with family and friends: STAY CONNECTED!
Whether that’s from a distance, via video calls, or in person. You never know when someone is going to be taken from your life. Even during circumstances like these, don’t cut out your family. If you aren’t comfortable with seeing them in person. Get on a video call. Many people lost family members in this year, hug your loved one a little tighter.
Support Local Businesses
Everyone has taken a hit in one way or another this year, why not support those who are doing their best and following their passion. It takes a village after all, be part of that village. Buy things from your friends with small businesses, go to the local owned coffee shop instead of big chains who have a ton of supporters already.
Enjoy Life
You may have heard this before but we will tell you again, go out and do things that make you happy!! Spend time with people who make you a better person, spend time with people who bring happiness into your life. Remove the negativity. Enjoy the small things in life and look at the positive side of every situation.
Instead of focusing on all of the bad things that happened, take a few moments to sit down and write down all of the good things that happened. I’d venture to say that even through the “negative” there’s something worth being grateful for to be found. Goals should challenge you, this year has been a challenge in itself. Don’t let that deter you from setting big goals and dreaming big for next year. Certainly don’t beat yourself up because you didn’t accomplish your goals this year. This year wasn’t what anyone expected and next year won’t be either, because NOBODY knows what is going to happen. All we can do is prepare to the best of our ability.
