As many of you know, there are many benefits to owning your own business, free time, flexibility, and choice are a few at the top of our list. BUUUUT it can also be very depressing to tolerate the business world. Finding stability and rationality is crucial as an entrepreneur. Many people think it’s all rainbows and unicorns… W-R-O-N-G at least at first. If you set yourself up for success it can be something like that down the road, but will always bring its own challenges! Below we have listed some tips on how to save your sanity while juggling everything else that is going on within your business. Let’s find some ways to Save your sanity as a business owner.
Keep your work life and personal life separate.
This one is not as easy as it seems. Especially if you are working from home, as many of us are now (#COVID). If you are a hard working entrepreneur, your wheels are always turning. Your work life is constantly on your mind. It would be helpful to have an on and off switch!
Occupy your time off with hobbies.
After working all week, you need a break. Shoot, sometimes ten minutes into your day you need a break! Your brain, body, and soul need to rest! Use your off time doing something you enjoy. Do something mindless. Go out and be social, hangout with friends, meet new people or find your zen whatever YOU need, do it and make time for it!
Take the dang vacation.
You deserve it. Why did you start your own business in the first place? Were you tired of working for someone else and having to request time off? Now you don’t. Once your business is in a comfortable state, GO! Getaway for the week, spend time with your family.
Remain optimistic.
Not everything is going to go according to plan, but negative thoughts will destroy you, try your best to see the good in all things. Replace your negative thoughts with positive thoughts and you’ll start having positive results. It can be a slow process sometimes, but be patient with yourself.
Stay active.
MAKE THIS A PRIORITY! But make it enjoyable, so hey you have a dog you have been wanting to spend more time with? Take the ol’ pal out for a stroll or a game of fetch for a mid-day break. Or try something new like a yoga class, or even deep breathing, standing and stretching, click here to read more! Movement for the body does wonders for your soul too! You may be overwhelmed and have a lot going on but don’t let your body come in last. You may think to yourself, “I don’t have time to workout today” .. Make time! Your health is your wealth.
It’s okay to lean on your support system.
Your God, family, friends, Google, etc. They are there for you! It’s okay to vent or get somebody else’s opinion on things. Everyone has a different perspective of things going on. Ask for advice, talk to someone, reach out to your mentor, or Google the situation you are in. Oh c’mon you know you do it too! Let go of your pride for a bit and ask the question!
Take breaks throughout your day!
If you sit at your desk all day long, breaks are important. Go out to lunch, go for a walk, go visit with co-workers, or do a quick exercise. Being consumed by your computer 25/8 is not good for you.
Do not work on the weekends.
We know, it’s tempting. You work all week, you need a break. Your weekends are important, you need family time, alone time, and quiet time! Don’t let your work consume your life, you’re going to wear yourself out. Don’t check your emails, as you probably know at this point, checking your emails on Saturday can turn into a whole day of work! Let go on the weekends.
Get rest.
Rest is so important, your mind doesn’t function properly when you don’t get enough sleep. Don’t work all night or the next day is going to be miserable! Sleep! I know it can be tough to rest sometimes, that’s when the OFF button would come in handy!
Take advantage of technology!
In today’s world, you can automate a lot of business related tasks to help make your life easier. Putting time or money into getting systems that automate your business is well worth it. Reach out to us if you need help with this, we help other businesses and we can help you too!
